Colombo University undergrads bring ‘Idamedi Wikine’
View(s):Award winning drama producer E. M. D. Upali’s latest theatrical “Idamedi Wikine” will go on the board on September 16 2013 at New Arts Theatre in the premises of University of Colombo. This special performance is scheduled as a parallel event of ‘Esala Sathsara’ Art festival organized by students’ union of the Art Faculty.
“Idamedi Wikine” is a translation of world famous play the “Cherry Orchard” written by well known Russian author Anton Chekhov. The cast comprises of Nilmini Sigera who comes back to stage after a long break, Luxman Mendis, W. Jayasiri, Wasantha Wittachchi, Prasad Sooriarachchi, Gamini Wijesinghe, Jehan Srikantha Appuhamy, Ama Wijesekara, Pavithra Dayananda, Sulochana Weerasinghe, Kalana Gunasekara, Kalpani Jayasinghe (Havi), Mihiri Priyangani, Jagath Chandrasiri and Premakumara Dasanayaka.
Music direction of the play is by Theja Buddika Rodrigo while costume designed by Swinitha Perera and Ama Wijesekara, set designed by Pradeep Chandrasiri, make up by Wasantha Wittachchi, lights designed by Ranga Dissanayaka and Pradeep Chandrasiri, sound effects by Charudatta Ilangasinghe and Anjana Premarathna.
Chamal Ranasinghe handles stage managing and Priyankara De Silva works as the production manager. ’ Idamedi Wikine’ is a presentation of ‘Sarasavi Mithoro’- an alumni association of Uni of Colombo.
