General Knowledge quiz on Commonwealth for CHOGM 2013
View(s):A General Knowledge contest on the Commonwealth has been organsied by the Government Information Dept for school children, to coincide with the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in November.
Schoolchildren’s knowledge of history and general benefits of the Commonwealth will be tested in this contest.
This programme will incorporate schools from all parts of the country, under the instructions of Prof Ariyaratne Athugalla. It involves 25 distant learning institutions through which an online test will be conducted for all schoolchildren, for which the University of Colombo and the Ministry of Education have extended their support. Accordingly, five schools will be chosen by each institution which will host the exam. Only Ordinary level and Advanced level students from the Sinhala and Tamil medium of National and Provincial level schools can participate in this programme.
The programme will commence shortly and students with the highest marks will be selected to participate in the final round to be held in Colombo. (MT)
