ACBT conquer SLIIT at annual cricket clash
View(s):The Australian College of Business and Technology (ACBT) recorded two tremendous victories over the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) in both the T20 and 50-over cricket matches, held annually between both institutes. The ACBT team was captained by all-rounder J D Ruban and the SLIIT team was headed by Ruwan Mapa another talented cricketer.
Having won the toss, ACBT invited SLIIT to bat first but bowled them out for 92 runs in the T20 match, played at the BRC grounds on August 16. Replying to SLIIT, ACBT surpassed the mark with ease while Vidusha Jayasinghe scored 22 and FalulHallj scored 21. Suresh Shehan captured four wickets for 9 runs.
The 50-over match was played on August 18 at the Thurstan Ground and SLIIT invited ACBT to bat after winning the toss. ACBT scored 176 runs for loss of eight wickets in their 50 overs with the magnificent 64 runs of the skipper J D Ruban. Kosala Sri Lal captured 4 wickets for 31 runs and skipper R Mapa captured 2 wickets for 23 runs.
SLIIT tried to battle during their innings but the strong bowling squad of ACBT scattered the dreams of the SLIIT batsmen and sent them all back to the pavilion at the 27.5 over mark, after they had scored only 88 runs. The ACBT team recorded two convincing victories against SLIIT in both the T20 and 50-over match.
