The Annual Dancing Concert of Regent International College, Gampaha
View(s):The Annual Dancing Concert of Regent International College, Gampaha –“Thaal II” was held on 6th September 2013 at the College Auditorium with the graceful presence of Mrs. Nirmala John, Lecturer at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute and Dancing teacher at St. Bridget’s Convent as the Chief Guest. There were more than 15 dance items presented. The concert which was started with a traditional Kandyan Pooja dance moved onto a line up of over 15 beautiful dance items representing different cultures. There was a healthy balance of western and eastern dances included in the show.
A Bharatha item, Ballet dance, a couple dance, a Hindi dance, a Tamil dance and a western dance and a hip hop dance and a traditional Pathuru dance too were included in the program. There were several dances based on popular Sinhala songs. The Senior and the Junior dance troupes performed at this concert. The chief guest commented on the colourful and appropriate costumes and the high standard of the training for the dancers and the items. There were some songs also included in the show to balance and highlight the differences in mood.
