A new music video by Chitral Somapala has captured the imagination of thousands of fans and is being hailed as another phenomenal hit for the Sri Lanka born singer, songwriter, composer, arranger and vocal coach. ‘Miringuwa Parada’ (conquering the mirage), a song about the journey of life, shows all the signs of reprising the success Somapala had with his 1998 hit ‘Nadee Ganga Tharanaye’ which continues to resonate Sri Lanka for the past one and half decades.

By 6 September, just 11 days after its release, ‘Miringuwa Parada’ had been viewed more than 75,000 times on YouTube and been downloaded 20,403 times on www.music.lk as fans embraced the powerful lyrics, catchy tune, power-packed musical arrangement and hi-octane visuals that epitomise the lifestyle choices of the modern generation.

In characteristic style, Somapala’s own brand of magic weaves together Kelum Srimal’s bold lyrics and Chandesh Kudwa’s evocative music to fashion a hit of anthem-like potential. The music video is produced by Saliya Weerasekera of Antswork (Pvt) Ltd., with video direction by Sachith Peiris of Five Frogs Studios.

On a visit to Sri Lanka, the Germany based Chitral Somapala met representatives of the media to talk about the exciting new music video that has taken his fans by storm.

The son of the renowned Sri Lankan artistes P.L.A. and Chitra Somapala, Chitral Somapala has recorded and toured with several leading hard rock-metal acts such as Avalon, Faro, Firewind, Civilization One (his own band), Powerquest and Red Circuit. Besides the hit ‘Nadee Ganga Tharanaye’ with which Somapala gained fame in Sri Lanka, he is also known for the song ‘Believing the dream” composed and recorded for the 2011 Cricket World Cup.
