Maris Stella and Walala Central grab top honours at Tarbet Athletics
Maris Stella College Negombo and Walala A. Ratnayake Central won the overall boys’ and girls’ titles respectively at the 83rd Sir John
Tarbet Senior Athletic Championship, which ended at the Sugathadasa Stadium last Sunday.
The three-day competition produced 23 new meet records as Maris Stella College won the boys’ championship with a tally of 137 points.
Walala A. Ratnayake, who clinched the girls’ championship with 193 points, also won the second place of the boys’ segment after recording 107 points. St. Peter’s College Colombo was placed third with 95 points.
In the girls’ segment, St. Joseph’s Girls’ School and Kuliyapitiya CC won the second and third places with 135 and 86 points
respectively. After three days of intense competition, sprinter, Rumeshika Ratnayake of St. Joseph’s Balika Vidyala Kegalle and hurdler, Supun Viraj Randeniya of Ranabima Royal College were adjudged the top athletes of the meet.
