Virtusa down Courtaulds 4-1
Virtusa downed Courtaulds by four goals to one in their MFA soccer fixture played at the Colombo City League ground recently. At half time Virtusa held a 2-1 lead.
Scoring was opened in the 5th minute when Virtusa were awarded a penalty and Madusshanka Chandanamal made no mistake. Three minutes later, mid field V. Balasubramaniam gave Virtusa their second goal. (2-0)
But in the 35th minute pulled Virtusa’s lead back when right extreme scored the first goal for Courtaulds
(2-1).
After the change of ends, centre forward S. Aham made it 3-1 in favour of Virtusa and three minutes later right extrema gave Virtusa their final goal to make it 4-1 when no time was blown. The game was refereed by K.W. Kasun while K.A.G. Gunasena was the co-ordinator and match commissioner was Anton Atapattu.
Commercial Credit too smart
Commercial Credit proved a bit too smart for Smart Shirts when they defeated the latter by three goals to nil in their Mercantile Football fixture at the Colombo City League ground. At the short whistle the tally as 2-0 in favour of Commercial Credit. In the 8th minute of the game, mid field J.W.S. Kumara put Commercial Credit one up and in the 25th minute,
centre forward W.M. H. Chinthaka made it 2-0.
After the turn around, left extrema M.KG.S. Prabod booted the third goal to seal a 3-0 win for Commercial Credit.
The game was controlled by M.A. Rahuman while the match co-odinator was A. G. Mendis and commissioner was Anton Atapattu. – BM
