IIT GRADUATES EXCEL AT CAMBIO
View(s):IIT is the oldest private IT & Business institute of Sri Lanka, and the pioneer to offer international British Degrees locally. During the last two decades, IIT has produced more than 3000 graduates and over 300 postgraduates who were conferred British degrees. Today, most of the senior Sri Lankan IT professionals working in top IT & Business firms in Sri Lanka and abroad are the products of IIT.
Amongst them is the team of graduates that have made waves at Cambio Healthcare Systems which is a company that has been providing systems that deliver exceptional care for every stage of a person’s life for the healthcare industry in Europe. They are currently licensed to over 95,000 users in General and University hospitals, primary care clinics and specialist units in Sweden, Denmark, and the United Kingdom. Offering a model which will run simultaneously with existing systems, Cambio provides operational support to increase efficiencies of hospitals by integrating with the existing systems while offering the flexibility of customization to suit individual customer demands.
Constantly seeking new ways to create safer, more secure healthcare solutions and systems, Cambio has recruited and trained many employees, a majority of whom are highly skilled engineers and developers from the best universities and Institutes in Sri Lanka. Amongst them is a large team of graduates from IIT that have been contributing their knowledge and talents in developing and maintaining a healthcare systems that has proven to be one of the most advanced solutions used by the healthcare sector in Europe today.
The Head of Cambio Sri Lanka Dharshana Jayawardena stated, “In our drive to achieve excellence, we have been very selective in our recruitment process.This has ensured that we have employed graduates from universities and institutes that have a reputation for being the best. IIT has always been amongst many of the other international institutes that we have had confidence in.”
He further stated that “Cambio has been greatly impressed by the graduates from IIT and their ability to drive forward an organisation of our caliber. The growth and successes we have experienced during the last eight years has largely been attributed to the talents of some of these graduates, amongst others. A majority of the IIT team hold leading positions in the organisation and have been instrumental in successfully driving forward many of the key projects of Cambio. Amongst them is Pasan Perera, Senior Team Leader who is in charge of heading the Swedish customer team, which is the largest in the organisation, that is involved in handling the adaptations of the healthcare systems for all the leading hospitals in Sweden.
Dharshana also noted that: “The IIT graduates have always displayed talents not only in terms of their knowledge in developing and managing our software systems but have also shown their skills in terms of their ability to lead and motivate teams. They also make a good impression on our clients in not only building great relationships with them but also in convincing potential clients to have confidence in our systems and solutions through their good presentation skills and convincing abilities.”
He concluded by saying that “Whilst having an up-to-date curriculum for their degrees that are in line with current market requirements, I believe IIT dedicates a lot of time in developing the soft skills of their students and this has definitely proved very valuable for our organisation. The many abilities they possess is the reason that we will continue to hire IIT graduates and we are also involved in being a part of their scholarship programme that constitutes us to offer an IIT graduate a position in our company for 5 years whilst also paying for their degree.“
