Mercury lanches job bank with affiliations of top blue chip companies in Sri Lanka

Mercury’ also maintains a close relationship with many prominent corporate organizations to promote industry collaborative initiatives that supports student learning and development.The Mercury Job Bank was initiated on 05th of July 2012 in order to facilitate the student calibre who are both partly qualified and fully qualified, seeking employment to fulfil their career aspirations by linking up with reputed companies to generate a relationship between the student and the relevant HR personnel of those companies when there are vacancies available. Mercury Job Bank bridges the gap between students who are pursuing to accumulate their work experience and employers who look for qualified personnel in the field of accountancy and finance.
Primarily, the links between the job bank and the employers were created by visiting the relevant companies and having a formal discussion with the HR personnel where a great amount of knowledge was shared between the two parties with regard to the recruitment process leading to trouble-free procedures when employing Mercury students.
The process constitutes that once a relevant company has vacancies, an email is sent to the Mercury Job Bank email address, mercuryjobbank@gmail.com. The students who are interested are then requested to e-mail their CV along with a Cover Letter where these are personally checked for errors and amendments are done for same by the Mercury team overlooking this process .After short listing the CVs received from students, these are forwarded to the relevant companies depending on student suitability to the available position. Once the relevant company has chosen a candidate they are directly contacted by the organization where terms and conditions are negotiated.
Mr. Thilina Ukwatta, the Business Development Manager and the founder of Mercury Job Bank stated, “In the past when I was an ACCA student, I found it quite challenging to find a job in finance related field without a proper network. Thus thanks to my past experience and under the guidance of Mr. Jeevith Shakespeare, Managing Director at Mercury, we initiated the Mercury Job Bank, to implement our vision of not being a mere tuition provider but a facilitator for students to fulfill their career aspirations and for employers to find best candidates to suit their requirements.”
The current list of companies linked up with the job bank include companies ranging from financial consultants such as Amba Research, audit firms such as PWC, EY and KPMG to knowledge process outsourcing companies such as WNS, HSBC Securities and Services, RR Donnelly, Infomate, Hayleys Business Solutions and Tellida..
Mercury’s alumni has proved that many have found gainful employment even before they graduate and have continued to rise in their careers to attain prominent positions in the said organizations.
