Two fatal road accidents due to speeding claimed three lives on Friday (20), police said.  Two 30-year-olds were killed when the car they were travelling in collided with a lorry at Eldeniya on the Katugastota-Kurunegala road.

The victims were Nadun Kurukulasuriya (33) and Suminda Udayakantha (37).  The car was severely damaged in the accident, while the injured had succumbed to their injuries on admission to the Kandy Hospital.

On the same day, along the Galle-Matara road in Mirissa, one person died when a three-wheeler veered off the road and crashed into a wall. The 52-year-old driver who sustained critical injuries, died on admission to hospital. Police said the driver had lost control resulting in the fatal accident.
