Ceylon Chamber’s ‘corporate citizen’ award celebrates a decade of sustainability
View(s):The Best Corporate Citizen Sustainability Award 2013 organised by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) will be celebrating 10 years of ‘Corporate Citizenship’ in November this year.
The award evaluates its applicants’ interactions with its stakeholders, environment, employees, customers, suppliers, community, government and shareholders, the chamber said.
Besides the main awards, three sector awards for sustainability are for Economic, Social, and Environmental while the category awards for the best performance are under Environmental Management, Environmental Integration, Environmental Value Addition, Employee Relations, Customer Relations, Community Relations, governance, Financial Performance and Economic Contribution.
In expanding the number of awards and to appreciate the competitive sustainability performance of a business entity, the ‘Grand Slam Award’, will be awarded to a business that wins the Best Corporate Citizen Award in five different years, the chamber added. The main objective of this event is to recognize corporate sustainability in Sri Lanka and encourage businesses to adopt best practices to create goods and services, using processes and systems that ensures maximum utilization of resources in an efficient manner, good labour practices for the workers, minimize environment pollution for workers and consumers and enhance the wellbeing of all communities.
