Chandrishan appointed Baseball trainer
View(s):Sri Lanka Baseball Association (SLBA) has appointed former national rugby player and veteran fitness trainer, Chandrishan Perera as the official fitness trainer for the Sri Lanka senior and youth baseball squads.
Chandrishan well known in the sport’s circle as a rugby coach, fitness trainer, and a commentator will initially take care of the 40-member Sri Lanka baseball squad which will be announced shortly by the SLBA selection committee headed by Subash Gunasinghe.
Among Chandrishan’s top priorities will be conditioning the team’s fitness level for the upcoming 11th West Asia Baseball Cup 2013, which will be held in Pakistan from November 26 to December 1. Sri Lanka will be one of the teams participating among India,
Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Bahrain, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran and Nepal in the competition which will be held at the Qasim Bagh Baseball Stadium in Multan.
“The Sri Lanka Baseball team is a force to reckon with in the region. Our main focus will be to strive for the championship at this competition and to do so Chandrishan’s involvement in raising the fitness standards of the players will be a crucial component,” SLBA official Dinesh Perera stated.
The SLBA will conduct the training and fitness sessions for the national squad at the newly constructed Japan-Sri Lanka Friendship Baseball ground in Diyagama, Homagama.
