Trinity’s cubs roar at rugby carnival
Trinity College earned major honours by winning three group championships at the Inter-School Milo Under-12 10-a-side Rugby Carnival, held at the Royal College Sports Complex in Colombo last weekend. The tournament was played as a friendly competition with the top performers from each group being considered winners.
Close to 1000 young rugby players took part in the two-day competition which was held in two segments. The first segment included six groups while the second segment had five teams. Trinity ‘A’ won the Group ‘B’ championship from the first segment while their ‘B’ and ‘C’ sides won the Group ‘A’ and ‘B’ championships from the second tier.
Zahira College Colombo also won two groups; the Group ‘D’ from first segment and the Group ‘E’ from the second. In addition, Royal College Colombo ‘A’ won the Group ‘A’ championship from first segment. Mahanama College Colombo, Vidyartha College Kandy and St. John’s College Nugegoda won the Group ‘C’, ‘E’ and ‘F’ championships from the first segment. From the second segment, St. Peter’s College ‘B’ and Wesley College ‘B’ won the Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ championships. – NA
