Police are searching for two suspects involved in the killing of the mother-in-law of film director and script writer, late Tissa Abeysekara at her residence in Rajagiriya.
Police say according to initial investigations the suspects had entered the premises by scaling a wall and had spent nearly four hours before making a get away through the same route.
The victim, Eda Margret Fernando, 87 died of suffocation after the suspects covered her face with a cloth, police said. Initial investigations have also revealed that though the men had ransacked two rooms only a ring worn by the victim had gone missing.
Police say finger prints believed to be of the suspects were also found at the scene of the crime. The JMO report had said even though a gag was not found during the postmortem examination, it had not ruled out the possibility of deep throat gagging.
