58th International Photographic Competition and Exhibition
View(s):The Photographic Society of Sri Lanka will hold its 58th annual International Photographic Competition and Exhibition from November 22 -24 at the Lionel Wendt Art Gallery. The oldest photographic society of Sri Lanka, the PSSL was set up with the objectives of developing photography as “an art and a craft”. The roots of the society are traced back to 1906 and this photographic competition has been conducted annually for more than 50 years.
This year the event is conducted under the patronage of three prestigious international Photographic Federations /Associations; FIAP (Fédération Internationale de l’Art Photographique), PSA(Photographic Society of America) and UPI (United Photographers International).
The PSSL 58th International Competition and Exhibition of Photography 2013 is being conducted on a fully digital platform with worldwide submissions accepted online via www.pssl.lk thus making it more accessible and easier for photographers worldwide to enter this event. So far entries have been received from more than 15 countries. The closing date for submissions is October 21. Each photographer can submit up to a maximum of four photographs in each of the three categories. Each category costs Rs. 700 regardless of how many photos are submitted.
Keeping in line with international standards, the society will be publishing an exhibition catalogue of all award winning entries, and images that are selected for display at the exhibition.

The judges are:
Open (Colour and Monochrome) category -Henry Rajakaruna, Bandu Gunaratne, Priyantha Amarasinghe, Sarath Perera and Mithra Weerakone.
Nature/ Wild Life category – Rukshan Jayewardene, Lakshmanan Nadaraja and Namal Kamalgoda
