14 Provincial Sports Officers join the central government
View(s):Minister of Sports Mahindananda Aluthgamage awarded 14 new appointments to the sports officials who worked at provincial councils for over 10 years. These Sports Officers joined the Department of Sports Development as central government coaches, the Ministry of Sports said.
The Sports Officers have stressed that they resigned from the provincial sports official position as they wanted to get involved directly in the mega sports development program which launched by the Ministry of Sports, the Ministry said.
Of the 14 officers 8 will be appointed in North and East provinces while the rest will be appointed considering the requirements of the other districts, the Ministry of Sports said.
In addition, a new group of sports officers around 09 will be appointed to the same position shortly.
These officers will be appointed to develop and improve the selected sporting events which have been identified as medal winning sports by the Ministry.
