‘Poppy Malak’ for War heroes
View(s):The Archdiocesan Social Communication Centre has taken the initiative to make a song to celebrate Poppy Day dedicated for war heroes who died over the years. The effort makes more praiseworthy as it has been set to the voices of 27 popular Sri Lankan singers representing different faiths.
The group of singers who represents almost all the generations of Sri Lankan music include Ivor Dennis, Visharada Amarasiri Peris, Kalasuri Lata Walpola, T. M. Jayaratne, Visharada Edward Jayakody, Melroy Dharmaratne, Maxwell Dharmaratne, Christie Dharmaratne, Rukantha Gunathilake, Keerthi Pasqual, Raju Bandara, Lakshman Hilmy, Visharada Charitha Priyadarshani, Pradeepa Dharmadasa, Suriyakumar Muttalage, S. Kalawathy, Senior DIG Anura Senanayake, Rajiv Sebastian, Bathiya Jayakody, Santhush Weeraman, Dushyanth Weeraman, Sanka Dineth, Theekshana Anuradha, Ramesh Uvais, Prasad Samaratunga, Mahesh Jayawardana and Kaushala Saranath Konara.
Conceptualized and penned by Anton J. Fernando with the music orchestration and melody by Mahesh Jayawardana, the song titled ‘Poppy Malak’ was digitally recorded at Joe-Neth Studio in Borella under the supervision and guidance of Rev. Fr. Benedict Joseph.
Anton J. Fernando, man behind this commendable effort says that the song would be a tribute to all war heroes who sacrificed their lives for the betterment of the future of the country. He said that the song could be a tribute to all war heroes who gave up their lives in the battlefront. The song ‘Poppy Malak’ which is to be released to electronic media soon, will also be available on you tube and www.music.lk.
