A tribute to Tissa
View(s):Late filmmaker, award winning script writer, scholar and cinema Guru, Tissa Abeysekera will be remembered at a ceremony tittled “Sameepa Rupa” by the Tele Nirmanawedinge Sangamaya.
‘Tissa Abeysekera Felicitation Ceremony’ is organised with the objective of appreciating multiple service rendered by late Mr. Abeysekera to the country’s field of art and society as a great cinematographer, teledrama producer, literary persona, critic, a teacher of the relevant subject-fields and administrator. The organisers also aim to share Dr. Abeysekera’s innovations and knowledge on the field with the future generation and the ceremony is scheduled to be held at 6.00 pm on November 27 at the BMICH, Colombo.
The President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been invited to participate as the chief guest in this ceremony. Parallel to the ‘Sameepa Rupa” — Tissa Abeysekera Felicitation Ceremony”, several performances like: launching of the books ‘Tissa … Tissa” written by Ajith Galappaththi and ‘Nikma Nogiya Apramana Minisa” — a collection of letters on Tissa Abeysekara including that of several local scholars and written by Rohana Dandeniya, awards presentation to the winners of the Tissa Abeysekera short film competition, screening of the documentary on Tissa Abeysekera created by Sudath Rohana and Tissa Abesekera memorial speech will he held.
