‘The Nail Anatomy’ was launched at a gathering of Colombo’s who’s who at the Lakpahana in Reid Avenue last Wednesday evening. “We do everything related to nails and provide foot reflexology, back, shoulder and hand massages.

The concept is that ladies can hang out in a chic environment, watch chick flicks together and have food and drinks which is why we allow the place to be booked for hen nights and parties. We want to be the epitome of a fun and luxurious lifestyle, including Japanese standards of service,” says Meili Lin Mather, the proprietor of Nail Anatomy. Originally from Singapore, she settled in Sri Lanka a few years ago and seeing the market gap for proper nail treatment thought of opening her own nail spa.

The spa also offers a luxurious skin experience courtesy of Faceforward, a specialised skin care venture whose Managing Director Nadine Wijewardane. Nadine is an experienced beautician, having worked in the industry for more than a decade in Sydney, Australia. She was mentored by influential makeup artist Rae Morris, head of L’Oreal Paris, Australia. Nadine has been a part of the main team responsible for fashion shows such as the Australian Fashion Week, France Fashion Week, Rosemount Australian Fashion Week 2008 and 2009, Mercedes Fashion Week 2010, and has worked with the likes of Miss Universe Australia Jennifer Hawkins and Victoria’s Secret’s Miranda Kerr.

Music videos, model portfolios- Nadine’s been involved with them all and assisted in the work of elite fashion and photography agency Delores Lavin Management (DLM). She’s been cited in editorial fashion spreads for Cosmopolitan Australia and Australian music videos.

Hers is thus a specialised expertise and she is equally choosy about the products she works with. “We provide skin care for all types of skins. Our treatments can be done even by pregnant mothers as the products we use are all of high quality. All treatments are fully customised to suit your skin type,” said Nadine adding that they use only Ella Bache products of France.

The Nail Anatomy will also have a café where patrons can nibble on Singapore’s favourite Kaya toast which is a toast sandwich made of a lot of eggs, coconut milk and sugar and coffee as well as cake pops. More food such as light bites and ice creams will be added to the menu.

The nail spa only uses international MMA free brands and will use only Seche Vite base and top coats on their creations to ensure a durable finish. They can even provide customised looks with genuine Swarovski crystal appliqués and unique nail art options.

“We are bringing the latest technology in nail art which allows you to take a picture of yourself and print it on your nails. We can match your nails with your outfit to a precision never experienced before. We are also hoping to have a happy hour package from 5-7 p.m. offering a quick pick-me-up which includes a cold-eye massage using qi gong balls, plus nail colour change and one complimentary alcoholic shooter,” says Meili. When hired for private events, the whole spa will be closed to the public giving the party folk exclusive use of the place. The other facility this luxurious spa features is free wi-fi, television and movies.
