Fourth Sports Medicine congress from December 6 to 8
View(s):The Medical Committee of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Sri Lanka will organise its 4th Sports Medicine congress from December 6 to 8 at the Olympic House in Torrington, Colombo. The Sports Medicine Congress is held annually in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee and the Sri Lanka Sports Medicine Association (SLSMA), to the benefit of doctors in the field of sports both local and international.
The three-day Congress will include four different courses conducted by reputed local and foreign medical lecturers. On the opening day, the topic will be Scientific Sessions, which is a necessary component to enter the diploma course. The course will be open for 130 participants. This will be followed by the Immediate Care and Emergency Medicine Course which will be followed on the same day. Participation will be limited to 30 doctors.
The Exercise Physiology and Exercise Prescription Course which will be open for only 30 doctors will be held on December 7. Successful finishers of this course will receive a certificate certified by the Durham University of UK, Faculty of Medicine of Colombo University, SLSMA and the NOC. On the final day the Team Physician Course will be held and this course will open the door to 130 participants.
The NOC hopes to attract highest participation of doctors who are interested in sports medicine for these courses. According to NOC officials the participants will be selected from all over the island, with the representation of main districts.
