StanChart Bank to facilitate business between the regions during CHOGM
View(s):Standard Chartered Bank, one of the principal sponsors of Commonwealth business forum, says it is ready to facilitate foreign and local business leaders to start their ventures here in Sri Lanka or in other countries as it has a strong presence in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
The bank has stepped in to facilitate several Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) transactions in the island including the Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Asia’s super luxury hotel project, Anirvan Ghosh Dastidar, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank, Colombo revealed at a media round table in Colombo on Wednesday.
He said that Sri Lanka will get a great opportunity to promote FDI by showcasing its potential to foreign business delegates participating in next week’s Commonwealth Business Forum.
Sri Lanka has been developed greatly after the end of war and there was tremendous improvement in the business environment and in doing business with investors, he said adding that investments in infrastructure will pay off in the long run with highway and road investments bringing long term benefits.
He said the bank is ready to facilitate Asian and African investors wanting to set up business ventures in Sri Lanka, as well as Sri Lankan businessmen willing to invest in those countries especially in the African continent. Answering a question raised by a journalist on principal sponsorship of Commonwealth business forum, he noted that it is similar to any other sponsorship and their commitment for the forum is US$150,000.
The bank will be represented at the discussions by two of its global experts Sunil Kaushal – Regional Chief Executive, South Asia and Sir Thomas Harris – Vice Chairman, Standard Chartered Capital Markets Ltd.
