Cherry Orchard at Punchi Theatre
View(s):Award winning drama producer E. M. D. Upali’s latest stage approach “Idamedi Wikine’ will be staged at 6.45 pm on November 22 at Namel Malani Punchi Theatre, Borella. A translation of world famous play the “Cherry Orchard” written by well known Russian author Anton Chekhov, the cast comprises of more than 15 players representing four different generations.
Among them there are Nilmini Sigera who returns to stage after a long period, Luxman Mendis, W. Jayasiri, Wasantha Wittachchi, Prasad Sooriarachchi, Prasannajith Abeysuriya , Jehan Srikantha Appuhamy, Ama Wijesekara, Pavithra Dayananda, Sulochana Weerasinghe, Kalana Gunasekara, Kalpani Jayasinghe, Mihiri Priyangani, Jagath Chandrasiri and Premakumara Dasanayaka.
Music direction of the play is by Theja Buddika Rodrigo (Meesha) while costume designed by Swinitha Perera and Ama Wijesekara, set designed by Pradeep Chandrasiri, make up by Wasantha Wittachchi, lights designed by Ranga Dissanayaka and Pradeep Chandrasiri, sound effects by Charudatta Ilangasinghe and Anjana Premarathna. Chamal Ranasinghe handles stage managing while the production manager and the organizer is Priyankara De Silva.
