CHOGM 2013 traffic plan
View(s):The Colombo-Katunayake Expressway entrance on Kelaniya Bridge, Baseline Road, Borella junction, Kanatta junction, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Bambalapitiya junction, Galle Road, Lotus Road, Lake House junction and Chittampalam Gardiner Mawatha, to the hotels will be closed from time to time during arrivals and departures.
On November 15, delegates will proceed to Nelum Pokuna from their respective hotels. Chittampalam Gardiner Mawatha, Lake House junction, Ceramic junction, Banku Mawatha, Lotus Road, Old Parliament junction, Galle Road, Kollupitiya junction, Liberty Junction, Dharmapala Mawatha, Red Cross junction, Public Library route, Green Path to Nelum Pokuna will be subject to closure for VVIP travel.
Nanda Motors junction, Independence Square, Maitland Place, Bauddhaloka Mawatha to BMICH will also be frequently closed. Please see traffic plan graphic.
Police also request the public to use alternate routes during the CHOGM period. Buses on High Level Road will go via Borella, Maradana to Pettah. Vehicles will enter and leave Colombo via Havelock Town Vehicles using Galle Road could turn off at Bagatale Road, R.A. De Mel Mawatha, Thunmulla, Havelock Road, Thimbirigasyaya, Baseline Road, Kanatta junction, Kynsey Road, Ward place, Town Hall, Ibbanwala junction, Gamini Hall junction via Maradana.
Vehicles can enter and leave Colombo via Havelock Town, Thimbirigasyaya Road, Mahawatta junction (Police garage), Baseline Road, Kanatta junction, Kynsey Road, Ward Place, Town Hall, Ibbanwala junction, Gamini Hall junction, Maradana to Pettah.
Short distance buses and other vehicles from Maharagama direction to Colombo and out of Colombo could use Thunmulla junction, Reid Avenue, Rajakeeya Mawatha, Flower Road, Pittala junction, Gangaramaya Road, to Slave Island.
Buses returning to Kaduwela can use Marine Drive, turn left to Glen Arbour Place, proceed through Bagatale Road, enter Duplication Road, Bullers Road, Thunmulla junction, Havelock Road, Baseline road, Kanatta junction and turn right from D.S. junction to Parliament Road.
