German luxury car producer Porsche expects boost in sales here
View(s):German luxury car producer Porsche is anticipating a boost in sales in Sri Lanka as they see a maturing market and a lot of interest in the Porsche brand and model.
Eurocars (PVT) Ltd, the agent for Porsche vehicles in Sri Lanka, said that despite the challenging market they are optimistic that “both turnover and sales will gradually increase up to the end of 2014 in comparison to 2013.”
Chairman of Eurocars (Pvt) Ltd, Arthur Senanayake said that there is demand for hybrid and luxury vehicles in the country and the government should reduce the duty on hybrids to increase sales which in turn brings more revenue to the government.
Speaking to the Business Times on the sidelines of the Panamera SE- Hybrid launching ceremony, Mr. Senanayake said that their target is to sell at least 60 to 70 of these cars in 2014.
This car is high fuel efficient and its electric driving performance is substantially improved and the driving range in every day operation would be somewhere between 18- 36 km, he added.
He noted that this vehicle sets new standards in efficiency, performance and operating convenience. The government should curb second hand hybrid imports which is sometimes risky because some of the country’s importers bring down four year old vehicles changing the features and other details to make it two years old.
This new model variant offers an entirely new electric mobility driving experiences that provides the benefits of reduced fuel consumption and emissions, he added.
