‘Thimirigira’, a story of a young man who has reached higher spiritual levels and maintains his valuable accomplishment despite many a social barriers and challenges, is now being telecast every weekday from 8.30 onwards on Derana TV.
Screenplay written and directed by Lakshman Pushpakumara, the teledrama produced by Arujna Wijesinghe is played by W. Jayasiri, Sudarshana Bandara, Thanasha Satharasinghe, Daya Tennakone, Udeni Alwis, Sriyani Mahawatte, Tissa Bandaranayake, Mahendra Weeraratne, Susantha Chandramali, Jayasiri Weeratunga, Dashun Weeratunga and Chitra Warakagoda.

The teleplay revolves around young Vipula who has been ordained as Rahula thero and lives in a rural temple. Ordained at the young age of 6 years, Ven Rahula leaves robes after maintaining its respect and dignity for nearly 20 years. The reasons for him to leave the temple are the poverty at his home, young studious sister whose whose future is in jeopardy if not for his support and the elder sister who suffers due her marriage to a ruthless man. As a monk Ven. Rahula fights against the problem of illicit liquor which has become a social destroying an entire village.

A wealthy businessman, Dharmadasa is responsible for all the vices in the village and the monk together with Bhagya, a new teacher who comes to the village try fight against them.

Would they be able to accomplish this daunting task? Will Vipula return to the robes? What will be the future of Bhagya and what is the future of Vipula’s
family?
