Sony Vaio’s 11- and 13-inch ultrabooks and its Tap 11 Windows 8-inch tablet were recently introduced to Sri Lanka. This follows global unveiling for the devices in June 2013, for the ultrabooks, and September 2013, for the tablet.

Speaking at the launch of the Sony Vaio range in Sri Lanka, New Sun Trading Channel Marketing Manager Koshala Ratnayake stated that his company started with just US$ 5,000 and, over the years, it had grown to its present $15 million in turnover. He also added the company planned to sell the Sony Vaio laptop range starting from Rs. 90,000 for the Sony Vaio FIT 14-inch, with the others priced significantly higher. He also commented that there were flexible financing options available for interested buyers. New Sun Trading is an authorised distributor for Sony in Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, Sony Representative for Sri Lanka, Yaacube Razali, opined that the Sony Vaio Duo 13 featured the longest battery life from all ultrabooks in the market, at 15 hours per charge, while the Sony Vaio Pro 11 was the lightest ultrabook in its class, weighing in at just 0.8 kilogrammes. The Sony Vaio Duo 13 is also a new slider hybrid which can be used as a tablet with touch screen or an ultrabook.
