Kinross to celebrate ‘Club Day’
View(s):Kinross Swimming and Life Saving Club will celebrate their ‘Club Day’ today, Sunday, December 15 with their members, families and their dynamic staff.
A carnival atmosphere will prevail the whole day and well into the night with food stalls, BBQ, DJ music, competitions and a live band.
The pick event of the day will be a five-a-side ‘Beach Tag Rugby Tournament’. Legendary rugby player Viraj Prashantha in consultation with the management has burnt the candle at both ends to see that this tournament sees the light of day. At the time of going to press, 15 teams had confirmed their participation with more teams expected to participate when the tournament gets underway. Rules and regulations of the tournament would be conducted in line with RFU standards.
This will be the inaugural ‘Beach Tag Rugby’ tournament which the club is organising and it will be a continuous event on their yearly sports calendar. Furthermore, the club intends introducing other events such as a beach volleyball tournament for women from next year.
The teams will be divided into two groups and the preliminary games will be played on a round robin basis. The winners and runners up will then meet in a knock out round in the semi finals and final.
The winning team will carry away a trophy and cash prize of Rs. 50,000/-, while the first and second runner up teams will each receive a trophy.
