VOX ONE choir’s annual Christmas service
View(s):VOX ONE is a young choir based in Negombo specialising in classical and contemporary choral works. The choir was formed in 2011 to promote choral music in the area as Negombo had not had a solid choir for nearly 50 years.
Their choral journey from their first performance at Scots Kirk in Colombo in July 2011 and ever since with regular events for Christmas and Easter has been a great success. This year their annual Christmas service, “A Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols” will be an open event to all those who love and appreciate this genre of music at the Maris Stella College Chapel, Negombo on Sunday, December 22 at 7 p.m.
The choir is directed by Harin Amirthanathan and accompanied by organist Denham Pereira and Trumpeter Naveen Fernando (SOSL). The service will be officiated by Rev. Fr. Daniel Icatto – O.D. The programme includes excerpts from Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s ‘Jesu, Joy of Man’s desiring’, Victoria’s ‘O Magnum Mysterium’, John Rutter’s ‘ I saw three ships’, Lee Dengler’s ‘Christmas Sanctus’ and well known congregational hymns.
Entrance is free.
