Aitken Spence introduces new concept luxury villas at Negombo
At least seven luxury villas have been sold while a number of inquiries have been received for the new 140 luxury villas at the Heritage Grove complex by the Aitken Spence group.
Dr. Rohan M Fernando, Director/Head, Business Development and Plantations, Aitken Spence Group, told Business Times, on the sidelines of the launch of this housing project, held this week in Colombo, that these luxury villas are built on a 30 acre coconut land at Kadirana, Negombo.
There are two categories of villas – ‘Teak’ sold at US$225,000 and the other Mahogany sold at $195,000 and bookings can be made by paying a $1,000 deposit. He said that selling these villas is no problem and they could be sold like ‘hot cakes’.
D.H.S. (Harry) Jayawardena, Chairman, Aitken Spence Group, addressing the large corporate sector personnel, architects and engineers present at the launch, said that ‘Heritage Grove’ is a new concept deviating from the common high rise building luxury apartments.
He said that in those high rise buildings, residents are isolated and in emergencies there would be no one to come in case of a crisis. He said that in their new villa concept there is complete social integration and activities are provided so that all villa residents would come together and there would be ample communication at any emergency.
Before launching ‘Heritage Grove’, Mr. Jayawardena said that they have gone deep into all aspects involved and made the decision. He said that those who live abroad could make these villas as their second home and said that in other countries there is summer and winter and during the winter they could come and live here since throughout the year it’s summer in Sri Lanka.
During the difficult times in this country, he said some have gone abroad to live and now they can come back and enjoy their lives in these luxury villas.
The project is a US$30 million investment and specially aimed at the Diaspora and foreign nationals with ties to this country.
Dr. Fernando said that such living accommodation in luxury in other countries like the United States would cost much more and as such this would be an ideal investment. In Sri Lanka and around the world people are growing old, he said and these villas would provide them living comfortably in their retirement age.
Aitken Spence has partnered with two respected US investors of Sri Lankan origin for this project; Mohan Chandramohan, former Chairman and Managing Director of American Reprographics, the only Sri Lankan company listed on the New York Stock Exchange and Tissa Attapattu who is involved in the export business and has a good knowledge of the retirement market.
