Guest turns predator as householder sleeps
A lunch party at a home in Kandana ended on a bitter note after a student from a leading school was allegedly molested by a guest, who was a local council politician The incident occurred after most of the guests had left the lunch party that was held on December 10 in the flat upstairs. The politician, who was acquainted with the family who lived downstairs, had fallen asleep on a chair there.
According to police when the politician awoke he realised that the host who lived upstairs had taken his children for classes except for one son and downstairs the chief occupant had fallen asleep while his daughter played outside.
The suspect had reportedly sent off the boy who remained upstairs to buy some chocolates and called the young girl upstairs. Since the council member had visited her home on previous occasions the unsuspecting girl had gone with him and had been molested despite her protestations.
However, when she raised cries the suspect had fled the scene and her father had taken her to lodge a complaint with the Kandana police, on his return.
In spite of being ordered to report at the police station on December 14, the suspect had failed to do so. He had reported the next day and been remanded until January 1.
