Antons Bridge champs
View(s):Antons, a team made up of Anton Selvanayagam, Rex Perera, Dr. Dilanjan Soysa, Asoka Jayasinghe and Ismeth Magdon Ismail emerged champions at the annual Bridge Championships, conducted by the Bridge Federation of Sri Lanka held at the Women’s International Club. The competition was sponsored by Multiform Chemicals and directed by Gajen Thillainathan.
Shans comprising of T. Shanmugalingam, K. Baskaran, Fritz Perera and M.P. Salgado was placed second. The Ceras team occupied third place. This team was made up of Cera Fernando, Rasika Karunatilleke, Anthea de Alwis, Shanto Rasiah and Dr. Rose Pieris.
In fourth place were the Karus made up of Y. Karunatilleke, Ashantha de Mel, Lalith Ghanlath and Bandula Seneweera. The first day of the contest saw the completion of the qualifying Round Robin where the Antons, Ceras, Shans and Karus collected 98, 82, 74+ and 74 respectively. In the semi-finals Antons overcame the Ceras and qualified to meet Shans team who got the better of Karus team,
In the final Antons team beat Shans team by 61 points to 52 and was declared champions for 2013.
