NCC recruits Under 21 cricketers and gears up for the future

The Nondescripts Cricket Club (NCC) which celebrated its 125th Anniversary this year and a leading light in Sri Lanka Cricket is gearing up to the needs of the future. With the next year’s Under-23 Tournament reported to be a youth tournament and requiring six Under-21 players in the playing XI and also with the Colombo District Cricket Association announcing the likelihood of a Under-21 Tournament for Colombo Clubs, NCC which is always ahead in their planning is looking to recruit Under-21 cricketers to commence training immediately under their senior coaches.

These players would be enrolled as playing members of this club that produced Michael Tissera, Ranjit Fernando, Aravinda de Silva, Kumar Sangakkara, Lasith Malinga, Dinesh Chandimal, Ranjan Madugalle, Ravi Ratnayake, Rumesh Ratnayake, Upul Tharanga, Hashan Tillekaratne to name a few, with a view of developing them into quality cricketers. The young cricketers are to be given all the facilities and will be allowed to train with the senior team as well.

All those school cricketers who believe that they have the talent to make it to the top, are requested to contact Leo Wijesinghe or Ryle de Silva at the Club Office on 2695293 and give their details or visit the Club Office between 9.30am and 4.30pm during weekdays and meet these officials. This will be a great opportunity for any young cricketer to make a start in order to hit the high spots in Sri Lanka cricket.
