Former Isipathana, Police SC and Sri Lanka fly half and ace place kicker Nizam Jamaldeen will be back in action officiating the match between Havelocks SC and Upcountry Lions today at Havelock Park under lights at 6.30pm. Jamaldeen is making a comeback after a brief stay away from officiating in games due to his coaching commitments. According to reliable source Jamaldeen is no more in the coaching staff of the Police Sports Club.

In another match to be played in Colombo, wooden spoonists’ the battle between CH&FC and Air Force at Maitland Place will be officiated by Dinka Peiris.

Meanwhile the inquiry panel held a meeting last week which involved the game between CR&FC and Navy and a controversial try given by referee Aruna Rankotge. The referee apologised for the error. The finding will be forwarded to the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) Council this week and a final decision will be taken soon after. Rankotge who has been refereeing for the last 15 years is considered to be one of the top referees this season. He is likely to start officiating in the second round league matches in the near future.
