Orville Fernando re-elected as rugby referees head
View(s):Incumbent president of the Sri Lanka Rugby Referees’ Society (SLRRS), Orville Fernando was reelected for yet another term at its annual general meeting held at the Organisation of Professional Associations auditorium at Stanley Wijesundera Mawatha in Colombo yesterday. Dilroy Fernando, who fell short by two votes for the top position was elected as one of the two vice presidents, besides Mahinda Jayawardena.
Mahesh Senanayake was elected as the secretary while Vimal Perera was selected as the treasurer. Aruna Rankotge, K.S.P. Karunaratne, Charith Kodagoda and Preethikumar Fernando were appointed as committee members. Tony Amit and Nizam Jamaldeen were picked as past committee members.
The SLRRS which was formed in 1953 was governed by the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union before it separated as an independent entity in the early 1980s.
