Tharaka, Chamara guide Sebastianites to take lead
Half tons by Tharaka Dhananjaya and Chamara de Zoysa enabled Sebastianites CC to take a first inning lead over Kurunegala YCC in the Emerging Club Trophy cricket encounter at the Welagedera Stadium, Kurunegala yesterday.
Kurunegala YCC taking first lease of the wicket on day one was skittled out for 107 while the Sebs ended the day on 202 for 3. Sebastianites CC resuming on their overnight score went on to make a score of 298.
Navy SC was on top against BRC in another match of the same tournament played at Welisara. The highlight of the second day’s play was a career best knock of 188 by Dilan Chandima of Navy.

Dilan’s knock which came off 227 balls comprised 27 boundaries and four sixes helping Navy SC resuming their second innings on 52 for 1 make a score of 389 for 9 declared.
The first innings ended in a low scoring affair with Navy making 126 and then bowling out BRC for 117. BRC chasing a massive 399 runs for victory was struggling on 46 for 6.
Lankan CC too took a first inning lead over Police SC in the match played at Police Park. Lankan CC resuming on their overnight score of 160 for 7 went on to make 198 in reply to Police SC’s 169.
