Shakira to release album in March
View(s):Shakira has announced her next album will be simply called ‘Shakira’. The ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ hitmaker has said the album will contain elements of rock, folk, reggae and dance. The Colombian born singer has already released the first single called ‘Can’t Remember To Forget You’, a reggae duet with Rihanna. The album ‘Shakira’ will be out in March 25th.
Justin Bieber has compared himself with the late Michael Jackson in pictures posted on his Instagram account. He posted photomontage of himself along side one with Michael Jackson. There was picture of him superimposed on a 2005 photograph of Jackson after he was acquitted of child molestation charges. The 19 year old Canadian singer broke his silence after his arrest on the 23rd January in Miami, Florida for drag racing in a residential area.
He was also charged for driving without a valid license and resisting arrest. Bieber has come under pressure to enter rehab, but was later spotted on a beach in Panama. Meanwhile three policemen in Florida have been suspended for providing an unauthorised escort to Bieber from an airport to a strip club in Miami before his arrest.
Robbie Williams was born in the English town of Stoke On Trent. As he turns 40 on 13th February, the City Council has decided to honour the part time Take That singer by naming three roads after some of his songs. The names Angels Way, Supreme Street and Candy Lane will come up in a new housing development. The council leader said that Williams who became a global star has not forgotten his roots. A blue plaque will also be unveiled at his childhood home. Reports have emerged that Phil Collins has been helping out singer Adele towards the completion of her new album which due for release this year. Collins a veteran of the music scene is said to be impressed with Adele’s voice. Adele’s last album was the global bestseller ‘21’.
The band Clear Bandit swept to the top of the UK singles chart with ‘Rather Be’, a deep house track. Released on 19th January, the song sold 163,000 copies to debut straight at No: 1 to give the UK act its first chart topper out of four releases. ‘Rather Be’ has become the biggest selling new song in the month of January which has a history of poor sales, since Babylon Zoo’s ‘Spaceman’ topped the chart in January 1996 selling 383,000 copies. “Rather Be’ has been co-written by the band with outsider Jimmy Napes. The group comprises brothers Jack & Luke Patterson, Grace Chatto and Neil Amin-Smith. They formed the Clear Bandit in 2009 while studying at Jesus College at the University of Cambridge. They specialise in fusing classical music with house beats.
The second highest debuting song on the UK chart is the pop rock track ‘Wild Heart’ by The Vamps. The song is the London based band’s second top 10 hit since ‘Can We Dance’ peaked at No: 2 last September. The Vamps have been receiving a lot of positive responses as they supported acts such as McFly, The Wanted, JLS and Little Mix on tours.
