View(s):The leader of the Democratic Party (DP), former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka, led a protest march and rally on Tuesday. Addressing a gathering at the Colombo Fort Railway Station, Mr. Fonseka said a minority –5% of the people in the country- controlled the resources of the country, while 95 per cent lived in fear.

“Today w e are isolated in the world,” he said.
The leader of the DP added that there was no real development in the country. “If there is development, people should have money in their hands and have the ability to have three proper meals a day, but today people are suffering,” he said.
The Democratic Party called on the people to rise up against the government, against corruption, lawlessness, casinos, narcotics and economic burdens which were being heaped on them.
