If we do oppose these moves it would definitely be the right move. Cricket should not be monopolised by a few teams. It is for the fans and the players. But I’m still sceptical about whether the SLC will go ahead and oppose these reforms. - Varnika Soysa (Private sector employee)

Public looking at cricket’s position paper

Section Sports

I’m not sure if there is sense in us opposing these reforms. If you look at things at the moment, India anyway dominates cricket and calls the shots so what difference will these changes actually make? If we go against these changes we might make enemies with those whose support we might need to develop the game here. - M. Riwan (Three Wheeler driver)

Public looking at cricket’s position paper

Section Sports

It is good if we are not going along with these plans because it will give more power and funds to countries that already have it. And through this three countries will dominate the sport. - Prasanna Silva (Private sector employee)

Public looking at cricket’s position paper

Section Sports

The Sri Lanka Cricket Board is doing the correct thing. We have to oppose these reforms. Everybody should be treated the same. They might earn more but with Test-playing countries everyone is the same. - Neil Rajapakse (Cricket coach)

Public looking at cricket’s position paper

Section Sports

It’s a good move by Sri Lanka. If three countries dominate it will kill the game. We need things to be done in an equal way. So as a matter of principle it is a good stand and it is the right thing to do. If you want to globalise the game you need more people to contribute and matters have to be looked at in a broad sense not just in financial terms. - Lyndon Hannibal (Cricket umpire)

Public looking at cricket’s position paper

Section Sports

I think it is the right decision by us to oppose these reforms. To me it is unfair to give prominence or special treatment to only a few countries. - Janith Bandara (Student)

Public looking at cricket’s position paper

Section Sports

As a former cricketer I back whatever decision the SLC takes. But I’m concerned about how this will affect our relationship with the ICC, especially if these reforms are pushed through and every other country endorses it. So we have to see whether Sri Lanka opposing these moves may affect us in the future. - Avishka Gunawardena (Former national cricketer)

At his 4th CFW, Dimuthu Sahabandu’s collection of evening wear is both striking and unusual creating a lasting impression on the audience His inspiration, interestingly is the last Queen of Senkadagala, Kusumasena Devi or Dona Katarina. The dresses reflect old Ceylon with flashes of Portuguese and Dutch influence. Shades of maroon, cream and white quintessential to the Kandyan era are made contemporary with embroidered jackets and flared skirts prototypical of the 16th century Portuguese style of clothing.

Aphrodite’s Myrtle is the newest addition to the Melache stable and this collection of eveningwear is inspired by the motifs and décor of a Roman Catholic Church. Embroidery reflects church symbols and if their choice of dangling cross shaped ear-rings didn’t spread the word strongly, the details on the dresses spell out their source of inspiration.

Showcasing both men’s and women’s fashion this year, Middle Finger, the brainchild of Fahad Sheriff is big on denim with an array of jackets, jeans and shirts for menswear. Almost every pair of jeans is of a different shade with unusual designs or acid washed. The women’s collection doesn’t exude estrogen to the core, but still gives off a masculine vibe with its sharp lines and contours.

It’s Thursday, February 6 and there’s an expectant buzz in the room as models in Agatha Ruiz De La Prada’s bright and vibrant designs make their entrance. Colombo knows Agatha well by now and here are her familiar spectacular designs down to the models sporting equally vibrant neon shoes. The collection is youthful whimsy, circular and conical silhouettes, huge bows and hand painted techniques. As her daughter Cosima Ramirez says, “It’s a lot of classical Prada techniques like handpainting with a new twist.”
