Hameed Al Husseinie storm into home tournament finals
View(s):Hameed Al Husseinie sailed into the finals of the Group of ‘80s Hameed Al Husseinie College under 19 Invitational Inter-School Football Tournament with a spectacular 4-0 romp over Hindu College, at the Sugathadasa Stadium yesterday.
The competition’s hosts benefited from a sublime hat-trick from M.N.M Rahuman, who whipped in his side’s two first half goals, before following up M.N.M Rizmi’s 46th minute strike with a penalty in the 52nd minute.
They will meet St. Benedict’s College, who needed penalties to overcome a resilient Maris Stella College in a match that failed to yield a single goal during regulation time. In the shootout, the Bens converted three of their attempts while Maris Stella could only knock in one. The finals of the tournament, which is sponsored by The Soho House, will be held next Sunday at 4.30 p.m. at the Sugathadasa Stadium. – DS
