Suresh, Dilshan half tons save Revatha MMV
Suresh Kumara and Dilshan de Zoysa saved Revatha MMV Balapitiya with the duo cracking half tons to deny D.S. Senanayake College who was looking at an outright win in the Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter concluded at the DSS ground in Wijerama Mawatha yesterday.
The second day’s play saw Revatha MMV resuming from their overnight score of 70 for 4 being bowled out for 153 which gave the home team a lead of 101 runs. Revatha were forced to follow on.
Suresh cracked a solid 93 while Dilshan made a contribution of 75 helping Revatha MMV end the day on 245 for 5. DSS in the end had to be satisfied with a first inning win.
St. Anthony’s made a mockery of their inter-school match against St. Benedict’s played at Kotahena even though they prevailed with a first inning win.
The Antonians after plodding the whole of day one facing 111 overs for a score of 173 for 7, continued on day two and faced a further ten overs to make a score of just 188 in 121 overs.
S. Thomas’ registered a first innings win against Nalanda in the match played at Mt. Lavinia.
A fine knock of 68 inclusive of ten boundaries and a six by Janith Liyanage supported by a 47 from Lakshina Rodrigo helped St. Peter’s make a score of 233 for 8 declared against Royal who made 229 for 7 declared in the match played at Reid Avenue.
Randev Pathirana who has been in top form in both batting and bowling continued to dazzle as he made a 91 with 13 boundaries and two sixes.
An allround performance by Malith Mahela was in vain as Mahinda Galle was unfortunate to miss out an outright win against Dharmapala in the match which ended at Galle yesterday.
Prince of Wales dominated the opening day’s play against Moratu MV in the match played at Moratuwa. Prince of Wales made a bold reply of 183 for 4 after restricting their opponents to a score of 206.
Half tons by Ajith Sandaruwan and Sahan Ishira helped Anuradhapura Central to come out on top against Karandeniya Central on day one at Anuradhapura.
Right arm spinner Shamsul Muneer who ended with a match bag of 10 for 90 supported by left arm spinner Ashan Rukmal’s six wickets paved the way for St. Anthony’s Wattala to record an innings and 23 runs win over St Mary’s Kegalle in the match concluded at Kegalle.
The foundation for the win for the Antonians was laid by the batting trio David Daniel, Jacob Sachin and Teshan Prasanna who made half tons enabling them post a formidable score of 313 for 9 declared.
