Huawei claims most LTE deployments worldwide

China’s Huawei has claimed the top spot in terms of 4G LTE deployments worldwide, according to a recent statement issued by its local unit.

The statement noted; “Huawei LTE has set a global business footprint covering more than 100 capitals and nine top global financial centres across six continents, including London, Hong Kong, Singapore, Zurich, Seoul, Tokyo, Geneva and Toronto. As of Noveber 2013, Huawei ranked top in the industry with 110 commercial LTE networks launched and 241 commercial LTE contracts signed. The company has helped leading global telecommunications operators such as Bharti, Deutsche Telekom, EE, SoftBank, STC, Telefónica, Telenor, TeliaSonera and Vodafone launch commercial LTE services in their respective countries and regions”.

With regards to Sri Lankan LTE deployments, the statement quoted Huawei Sri Lanka Chief Executive as commenting; “Locally we have deployed our enhanced network solutions with SLT, Mobitel, Dialog and Lanka Bell, offering a better technological experience for the local consumer base”.

Further, the statement also indicated; “Huawei was the first manufacturer to launch LTE Cat 4 devices, including Ascend D2, MediaPad10, Mobile WiFi E5776, USB Dongle E3276 and CPE E5172, B593 supporting download speeds of 150Mbps. In Japan, Huawei launched the Ascend P1-LTE smartphone, the first commercially available TD-LTE smartphone. The company owns multiple new technologies to support the widest pipe for faster networks. Carrier Aggregation (CA) technology allows faster speeds by providing more bandwidth. In June 2013, the company achieved 5-carrier aggregation at 1.25Gbps. Huawei has also developed dual, quad, and octo antenna designs on wireless devices for faster speeds while also providing a SingleRAN solution to integrate 2G/3G devices with 4G devices”.

Additionally noted; “Demonstrating the company’s industry leadership in R&D, standards, solutions and commercialisation, Huawei continues to win top industry awards on the global stage. The most recent of these wins came at the LTE World Summit 2013, where Huawei won ‘Best Innovative LTE Launch’

award in recognition of the company’s significant achievements in LTE commercialisation and innovation”.
