St. Anthony’s batsman Mohamed Aflal’s bat fails to connect the ball

win of the ongoing Under 19 inter-school cricket season, with a crushing innings and 155 runs win over Revatha MMV Balapitiya in the match concluded at Balapitiya yesterday.

The writing was on the wall for Revatha MMV who ended day one in a bad position of 77 for 5 in reply to Richmonds massive score of 358 for 6 declared, which came on the back of a fine knock of 102 by Hasitha Madushan and supported by half tons from Wanindu Hasaranga and Charith Asalanka.

St. Joseph’s too recorded an easy innings and 35 runs win over St Anthony’s Katugastota in the match which ended at Darley Road. The win also saw St. Joseph’s bagging the Murali-Vaas trophy on offer.

St. Benedict’s registered a first inning win over St. Peter’s in the match concluded at Kotahena. The Benedictines having scored 227 restricting the Peterites, resuming on their overnight score of 61 for 1, to a score of 176.

Royal dominated proceedings on day two in their drawn match against Wesley played at Campbell Park. Royal having made a score of 248 for 9 declared and bowled out the home team for 183.

Prince of Wales thanks to half tons by Shanuka Dulaj and Jayanga Peiris scored 272 against St. Sylvester’s who ended day one on 54 for 4 at Moratuwa.

Mahinda already took a first inning lead over Nalanda at the end of the first day’s play in the match played at Campbell Place. St. Anne’s Kurunegala too took a first inning lead over St. Anthony’s Wattala on day one at Wattala.

Stiff tussle at Lake View
