28-year-old mother remanded for allegedly killing her newborn
View(s):Police have arrested a 28-year-old mother over the killing and dumping of her newborn child in a toilet bowl at the National Hospital early this week, police said.
The 28-year-old was admitted to the National Hospital on Monday (3) at 9 am for a medical checkup. She had given birth to a child inside a toilet and killed the infant by dropping him headfirst into the toilet bowl.
Subsequently, the woman was transferred to the Castle Maternity Hospital due to excessive bleeding.
When the body of the infant was located by the cleaning staff of the hospital, he was identified as the child of the suspect. Accordingly, she was arrested by the Maradana Police at the Castle Hospital. Later she had confessed to her crime.
The woman has been remanded till March 14. (CS)
