A meditation on rhythm
Tabla virtuoso and three-time Grammy Award-winner Pandit Tanmoy Bose will be live in concert on March 22 at the Musaeus College auditorium. This is the tabla maestro’s second concert in Colombo. His show ‘Taal Tantra Tantric Rhythms’ featuring his music group, Taal Tantra, is presented by Standard Chartered Bank.
One of India’s best-loved, globe-trotting percussionists and tabla players, Tanmoy Bose delights audiences with cross-cultural
rhythms and devices in an east meets west musical fusion. The three-time Grammy Award-winning artist is known for his close association with Pandit Ravi Shankar with whom he travelled and played regularly at venues around the world. The maestro has also worked in collaboration with many other Indian musical legends, such as Anoushka Shankar and Amjad Ali Khan experimenting with Jazz, Indian classical music, folk music and indigenous drumming.
Tanmoy Bose is the founder of Taal Tantra, which roughly translates to ‘a meditation on rhythm’. The band which has emerged as one of the world’s foremost music bands over the years plays regularly to audiences in Mid-East, North America, Europe and India.
