A timely century by Roshane Silva supported by half tons from Bhanuka Rajapakse and Angelo Jayasinghe helped Colts to come out on top against Chilaw Marians when play ended on day two in their Premier Plate Championship encounter played at Panagoda.The trio’s knocks saw Colts resuming from their overnight score of 75 for 2 make a formidable score of 418.This was in reply to Chilaw Marians’ score of 128.
Chilaw Marians batting for the second time was left with a daunting task of erasing a massive deficit of 290 runs, but was in deep trouble as they ended the day on 47 for 3 needing another 243 runs to avoid an innings defeat on the final days play.
Badureliya SC was set for the kill against Panadura SC when play stopped on the second day in the match played at Rifle Green. A knock of 75 by Hans Fernando helped Badureliya SC resuming from their overnight score of 139 for 3 make 221 in reply to Panadura SCs 101.
They then bowled out Panadura SC the second time with a deficit of 110 runs to a score of 197 which left them a target of 78 runs for victory. Badureliya SC in their run chase ended the day on 19 for 1 needing a further 59 runs for an outright win when play gets underway today.
Bloomfield dominated the proceedings on day two against Air Force SC in another match of the same tournament played at the Panadura Esplanade. Bloomfield after making a formidable score of 278 restricted the Airmen resuming on their overnight score of 74 for 5 to a score of 168. Bloomfield batting the second time made a score of 298 for 5 declared leaving Air Force a massive target of 409 runs.
