MISTY hits the international road again…..
View(s):Popular band Misty took wings last week to embark on their latest three months long World Tour. Misty will celebrate their success on the international platform once again for the twelfth consecutive year, commencing their off-shore tour in March 2014. The band is slated to perform in four countries in seven destinations, for a number of truly exceptional shows.
Similarly at home, MISTY has record breaking performances at sold-out shows being held in these destinations annually. These music hit makers have been trekking across the globe and this time around they are to perform in the US, Canada, Australia and Singapore.Their kickoff concert was held in New Jersey, USA yesterday, (15th March) organized by the Sri Lankan community in New Jersey.
The boys will be moving to Washington DC for their second show on 29 March follwed by a grand dinner dance and a concert organised by the Toronto Sri Lankan Society in Toronto on 5th April. Misty will be here in Colombo for the New Year celebrations during the April Festive season. They will come alive in a couple of shows in Nuwara Eliya and in Colombo for the Avurudu Holidays.
The band will fly to Singapore again in the fourth week of April, where they will come alive at Singapore International Concert Stadium on 25 April.
Misty will move to Down Under for three dances and concerts in May. Rajitha and the boys will be in action in Sydney on 10 May followed by 17 May in Melbourne and on 24 May in Brisbane.
Speaking to us, Rajitha Rupasinghe, leader of MISTY the man behind the scene, stated that his team and him are thrilled to be returning to these destinations. “It is always a lot of fun and we can’t wait to see our fans there again. Performing in these locations always has been wonderful. We are really looking forward to it.”
‘Mr. MISTY’ as fondly referred by his fans, Rajitha went onto say that he’d compacted his band to provide more dynamic shows this year both at home as well as internationally. He elaborated, saying you could expect “radically different” things from this tour to the band’s previous shows.
‘Should be radically different,” he reiterated. “We’re trying to treat each leg of the tour like its own separate thing. It gets around the fact that our adoring fans await for fresh things every year. Already requests from fans in these countries are flowing in. To flavor their listening pleasure MISTY wants to do the most, so we’re trying to keep things off the cuff and unpredictable. These shows will be different every night in each destination’.
Always being engaged with the crowd and truly cheerful on stage, we specifically asked Rajitha what he would do differently this time for his international fans, with his ever sustaining energy and the unmatchable performance acts. He stated that “I will let my imagination run wild. I’m going to go nuts creatively.” It’s hard to quibble with the extensive array of music created so perfectly by this music icon along with this team.
This soul man with his impeccable dulcet voice has captured audiences at home and around the globe alike being an increasingly rare artist. With his team MISTY he will do everything to bring a one of a kind experience into the entertainment arena for 2014.
