Aslam emerges champion
Moors SC’s S.H.M. Aslam emerged the champion of the M.J.M. Lafir Pot Black Snooker tournament when he defeated K.H. Sirisoma of Sri Lanka Ports Authority in the final played at the MICH billiards table in Colombo yesterday.
Aslam who has much more experience than his opponent Sirisoma who in fact is a specialist in billiards won the game with ease
Earlier in the afternoon session of play in the semi final encounters Aslam chalked up an easy win over Y. Sudharshan of SSC while Sirisoma got the better of M.F. Lafir of the host club MICH.
Sirisoma in fact recorded a fine win against fancied Susantha Boteju of YMCA in a pre-quarter final encounter. In the third place off which was played before the final saw M.F. Lafir of MICH defeating Y. Sudharshana of SSC.
The tournament is organized by MICH to honour billiards maestro M.J.M. Lafir who was the first Sri Lankan to win a world title in any sport and
in commemoration of his 40 years of having won the World Billiards title in 1973.

Semi-finals: S.H.M. Aslam (MSC) beat Y. Sudharshana (SSC) (74-29) and K.H. Sirisoma (SLPA) beat M.F. Lafir (MICH) (52-23).
Final: S.H.M. Aslam (MSC) beat K.H. Sirisoma (SLPA) (60-47)
