Isuru 7/35 and Sahan (45) clinch three wicket win for Ananda
A seven-wicket haul by spinner Isuru Gunasekera and 45 runs off 71 balls with eight boundaries by Sahan Arachchige helped Ananda College to clinch a three wicket win against Debarawewa National School. The match was hosted by Debarawewa National School at their school ground.
Invited to bat first the home team was restricted to 105 runs in 31.3 overs. The Debarawewa batsmen could not cope with the spin of Isuru Gunasekera who captured seven wickets in his spell of 9.3 overs. Only number nine batsman Thimindu Sachinthana showed late resistance to score 45 runs off 35 balls with six boundaries and two sixes.
The home team did well in their attempt to defend the low score and Ananda lost their first wicket at naught, second at one and were reeling at 3/15 when Pasindu Isira 20 and Sahan Arachchige shared a 49 run partnership in 62 balls for the fourth wicket. Ananda were six down for 78 runs in the twentieth over but Sahan Arachchige saw them level the score before lofting one to Udith Chandana.
