Skipper Mathews felicitated by Colts
View(s):Colombo Colts Cricket Club held a felicitation ceremony to honour its sportsmen and women who reached the helm in their careers by achieving national status.
The top award of the day was presented to current Sri Lanka cricket captain Angelo Mathews who became the first player from Colts to do so.
In addition Vanessa de Silva, a former Colts Women’s cricketer who also led the Sri Lanka Women’s team and Dinesha Perera, the Colts hockey player who captained the Sri Lanka Hockey team were also felicitated.
Legendary batsman Roy Dias received a special award for being the first Test cricketer from Colts. Current Colts cricketers such as Kusal Perera and Akila Dhananjaya were also honoured for their achievements.
Colts officials Nishantha Ranatunga, Carlton Bernadus, Trevor Rajaratnam, Chaminda Mendis and Chaminda Vaas gave away the awards.
