In a ceremony held recently at the College House, University of Colombo, Vijit Coomara and Dilan Rajapakse, B Sharp Lanka’s General Manager, presented a cheque to the Vice Chancellor of University of Colombo, Dr. W.K. Hirimburegama that will fund three student scholarships. These scholarships will assist with some of the expenses associated with their higher education.

“Many students face financial difficulties and, as a result, drop out of their university studies,” says Dr. W.K. Hirimburegama. “Recipients of these grants will be in a better position to overcome financial obstacles that stand in the way of their graduation.”

“As future innovators in our industry, students represent a valuable resource for us,” said Vijit Coomara, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of B Sharp Technologies. “Therefore, we have chosen to make two initial investments into the student talent-base at UCSC that include grants to students in need and technology sessions that will complement the academic courses they take.”

Additionally, B Sharp is hosting one-hour technology sessions at UCSC that are designed to instruct students in various practical aspects of working in a software development firm. The first three sessions, coordinated by Dr. Nalin Ranasinghe and Dr. Rasika Dayarathne were held for UCSC 2nd year students.

The Director of UCSC, Prof. Gihan Wickramanayake has played a pivotal role in coordinating and advising the initiatives by B Sharp.
